Two years ago, I found myself at a personal and professional crossroads — one of the lowest moments I’ve ever experienced. Threats were closing in from all directions. My work, my integrity, and even my safety had made me a target.
In those terrifying moments, I needed more than courage — I needed protection, someone who would believe in me when the world seemed determined to silence me.
And then, like a light cutting through the fog, an angel flew in — not metaphorically, but literally stepped into my life with action, not just words.
His name? @anasglobal.
When most people would have distanced themselves, Anas drew closer. He offered more than encouragement — he offered his home, his protection, his name.
He didn’t just help me survive; he gave me a second lease on life. In the face of threats, he extended the ultimate kindness: shelter, safety, and solidarity.
To this day, I cannot fully express the depth of that act. It wasn’t just a favor — it was an act of radical humanity. It was a gesture of faith in me, in truth, and in the cause we both serve.
Years ago, when I first decided to become a journalist, Anas was the man I dreamed of becoming. Fearless, focused, strategic, and unapologetically committed to justice.
To think that I didn’t just get to meet him, but got to emulate him, learn from him, and live under his roof, is a blessing I still reflect on with disbelief and gratitude.
It’s one of my greatest honors — and will forever be one of the stories I’ll proudly tell my children and grandchildren. Not to brag, but to inspire. Because people like him are rare. And because stories like mine prove that heroes don’t always wear capes — sometimes, they wear a mask and walk among us.
What Anas gave me went beyond material support. It was the feeling of being seen, believed, and backed. At a time when I questioned my choices, my safety, and even my worth, his actions reminded me that my voice still mattered — and that the fight for truth was not mine alone.
Awoda pa, nkwa tenten ne anigye ma w’abusua, me bossu.
(Happy birthday, long life, and joy to your family, my boss.)
This message is not just about celebration. It’s about legacy, gratitude, and resistance. It’s about honoring someone whose work — and quiet interventions — have saved lives, not just stories.
Thank you, Anas, not just for what you did for me — but for what you continue to do for countless others whose names may never be known.
You are a protector of the afflicted, a voice for the voiceless, and a walking reminder that truth is still worth defending.
This tribute is the least I can do. But I promise — every story I pursue, every truth I amplify, and every life I help protect is part of the ripple you created when you saved mine.
