Advocacy & Awareness

Advocacy & Awareness

Protection doesn’t end at the safe house door. WAJSIC advocates for stronger laws, public understanding, and institutional reforms to protect those who risk everything to expose the truth.

Why Advocacy Is Needed

Whistleblowers and journalists face threats partly because systems fail to protect them. Laws are weak or missing, and public support can fade when truth-tellers are falsely accused or silenced.

WAJSIC challenges this through targeted awareness and policy work.

What We Do

  • Launch campaigns highlighting the role of truth-tellers

  • Engage with policymakers to improve legal protections

  • Build media partnerships to amplify resident stories (safely)

  • Educate communities about whistleblower rights and the cost of silence

For Whom?

Society as a whole: journalists, activists, lawmakers, and the public.

Beyond Messages

WAJSIC’s advocacy includes:

  • Workshops for journalists and activists on storytelling and safety

  • Collaboration with global networks to share resources

  • Direct engagement with authorities to improve protection frameworks

Examples of Impact

  • Raised international awareness after resident threats

  • Contributed to discussions on whistleblower protection policy

  • Built partnerships with groups like PPLAAF, BBC Africa Eye, and MFWA

Future Priorities

  • Expand campaigns to new countries

  • Engage more directly with youth and student journalists

  • Use digital media to reach broader audiences

By making noise, we make change. WAJSIC’s advocacy turns private risks into public responsibility.

Advocacy & Awareness

We amplify resident voices and push for stronger protections. Because silence empowers injustice, while awareness challenges it.
