Psychosocial & Medical Support

Behind every exposé or leaked document is a person under immense stress and danger. WAJSIC’s psychosocial and medical support helps truth-tellers cope, heal, and keep going — because mental and physical health are as vital as physical safety.

Why It Matters

Facing threats, harassment, or violence often leads to trauma, anxiety, depression, and PTSD. Many truth-tellers also suffer physical injuries or chronic stress-related illnesses.

WAJSIC’s approach ensures residents don’t just survive danger but recover from its invisible wounds.

What We Provide

Residents can access:

  • Trauma-informed individual and group counselling

  • Sessions with trained psychologists experienced in crisis care

  • Medical referrals and basic healthcare support

  • Peer support networks for shared understanding and solidarity

For Whom?

All WAJSIC residents, and in some cases, their dependents who’ve also experienced trauma linked to the truth-teller’s work.

Beyond Immediate Help

We also:

  • Support residents in building long-term coping strategies

  • Offer workshops on stress management and self-care

  • Help plan next steps for reintegration after shelter

Examples of Impact

Residents have reported:

  • Reduced anxiety and better sleep

  • Renewed confidence to keep working

  • Healing after experiencing torture or violent attacks

These outcomes restore hope and resilience.

Future Priorities

  • Partnering with more trauma specialists

  • Expanding services for dependents

  • Developing group programs for long-term residents

Truth-tellers deserve not just physical safety, but the chance to heal and rebuild. WAJSIC walks that journey with them.
